Goaltender Fleury already making an impact in Vegas community

When Marc Andre Fleury was officially announced as the Vegas Golden Knights expansion draft selection from the Pittsburgh Penguins, the assembled crowd in Las Vegas erupted in cheers. When Fleury stepped out onto the stage sporting his new team’s uniform however, he received a standing ovation. No doubt about it, Vegas already loves the man they call “Flower”.

That’s good, because Fleury is expected to be a big part of the NHL’s 31st franchise in its inaugural season and in seasons to come. He’s easily the team’s biggest, most marketable star player and his easy going personality should help endear casual fans to the team. What’s more, is that he’s an incredible ambassador for the sport and hasn’t wasted any time in engaging with fans in the NHL’s newest market.

How great is that? Fleury is receiving heaps of praise for how he handled a stick situation in Pittsburgh. Now that he’s officially in Vegas, here’s hoping him and the Golden Knights all the best!
