Brian Elliott may be a goaltender, but he is certainly one tough customer.

The St. Louis Blues' netminder found himself in some distress during the third period of Sunday's Game 2 action between the Blues and Dallas Stars. Elliott took a blistering slap-shot from Stars' forward Jason Spezza directly in the mask. He immediately fell to the ice while clutching his head, clearly dazed from the force of the impact.

In fact he shot was so hard that it even dislodged a contact lens from Elliott's eye, which he needed help adjusting. Elliott fully recovered and continued the rest of the game without issue.

His helmet also required some repairs to the mask's cage, but he was eventually able to don the replica Curtis Joseph inspired headgear.

Talk about being headstrong.
