GOTTA SEE IT: Controversial non-call leads to game-tying goal for Ducks

Just minutes after Edmonton Oilers head coach Todd McLellan unsuccessfully used his coach’s challenge to protest an Anaheim Ducks goal by Ryan Getzlaf on the grounds of goaltender interference, the Ducks tied the game on a controversial goal. One good controversy deserves another, I suppose.

On the game tying goal by Rickard Rakell, Ducks forward Corey Perry appeared to enter the zone offside but the play went undetected by the game’s officials. And, because he had previously lost his timeout in the Getzlaf goal, McLellan was helpless to challenge the play. 

How close was it? Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty close. Take a look:


That’s about as close as it gets. Tough pill for the Oilers to swallow, no doubt, but the game goes on.
