GOTTA SEE IT: Further proof that Oilers fans are the best in the NHL

Crazy picture of downtown Edmonton perfectly captures Oilers fever.

Call it a Tale of Two Cities, but without Dickens. With reports of the Ottawa Senators struggling to sell tickets in their second round playoff series against the New York Rangers and the Edmonton Oilers regularly selling out “viewing parties” at Rogers Place, that is a ticket a televised game on the arena’s jumbotron, there’s a clear disparity in the passion of Canada’s two remaining playoff teams.

It seems that everywhere you go in the city of Edmonton these days, it’s clear that the Oilers are back in the playoffs and fans are supporting their team like they haven’t in over a decade. Fans have painted the town orange with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl jerseys and even the local business association is trying to capitalize on Oilers fever.

Nope, that’s not the Bat Signal, it’s a giant “Let’s Go Oilers” light projection on the side of a nine-storey concrete building in downtown Edmonton. The rallying cry is visible for commuters and pedestrians travelling west along the city’s famed Jasper Ave. Selfishly, we’re hoping the Oilers can extend their playoff run, just so we can see more of this sort of over the top fandom.
