The Detroit Red Wings organization as the rest of the NHL community has been terribly saddened by the loss of the iconic Mr. I. The Wings honored former owner Mike Ilitch, who passed away last Friday at the age of 87, with a touching tribute video before their game against the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday. A touching and sentimental moment at the Joe Louis Arena last night.

Zetterberg shared an interesting memory of him and Mr. I at a Tigers game: “It was at a Tigers game the year before I started playing here,” Zetterberg said. “When I signed my contract, they invited us to a game, and I met him and Mrs. I for the first time. You felt right away it was a special place and how they take care of their players and their families.

May his soul rest in peace and all the condolences to the family and friends of Mr. I.
