Great defensive awareness finishes off the Canadiens!

Eric Fehr was brought in for exactly these types of situations.

He made a great defensive play by being aware of everyone in the defensive zone and score a short handed empty net goal to put a fork in the Montreal Canadiens.

Kris Letang had taken a cross checking penalty with 20 seconds to go while the Penguins held a 2-1 lead. The Habs won the faceoff back to Andrei Markov who then tried to one touch a pass to PK Subban but Fehr stuck had gotten right out to the top of the zone, stuck out his stick and intercepted the puck. He then went in all alone with an open net and scored his 3rd shorthanded goal of the season. Not bad considering it was only his 5th goal.

Fehr is known for his great penalty killing and defensive awareness and that was a main reason why the Pens went and got him this past off season. Plays like last night show how important a guy like him is to the team.

Great job Eric!
