Great news for the Montreal Canadiens!
Keystone Press

After such a disappointing weekend, the Montreal Canadiens' fans really needed some good news on Tuesday. Shortly after this morning's practice, head coach Claude Julien told reporters that he expects David Schlemko to be ready to play soon.

While he didn't mention a specific date, it is a very good news for the Habs, who have struggled defensively since the start of the season.

Many experts expected Schlemko to become Shea Weber's defensive partner this season. The coaching staff was most likely looking to create a good chemistry between the two defenders during training camp, but he suffered a hand injury.

In 360 career NHL games, Schlemko has produced 17 goals and 87 points as a member of the Coyotes, Stars, Flames, Devils and Sharks. He put up two goals and 16 points in 62 games in 2016-17.
