Great news for Wings as Nemeth returns to the lineup tonight in New Jersey
Michigan Live

As they get set to face off against the Devils tonight in New Jersey, the Detroit Red Wings look to avoid losing a 5th consecutive game. After going on an 8-game winless run earlier this season, the Wings will want to avoid prolonging another losing streak at all cost.

The Wings get some welcome news ahead of tonight's matchup that may help them avoid defeat. D-man Patrik Nemeth is coming back from an injury that had kept him on the sidelines for the past few games. Nemeth is one of the defensemen that is most heavily relied upon by Jeff Blashill and his return means that Detroit's defensive unit is susbstantially solidified.

Joe Hicketts was sent back down to Grand Rapids to make room for the Swede. Nemeth will play alongside Dylan Mcilrath tonight on the Red Wings' 3rd defensive pair.

Another veteran had recently come back from injury. Luke Glendening played on the 4th offensive line upon his return from injury. Tonight however, he is set to be a healthy scratch and will be replaced in the lineup by long-time Wing Darren Helm. It is unknown yet whether Glendening has re-injured himself or whether he is simply getting scratched by Blashill because of poor performances.

This means that Chritoffer ehn will be back at center on the 4th line tonight, while Helm will play on the wing.

Jonathan Bernier will get the start tonight as Jimmy Howard started in Thursday night's loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Here is the Red Wings' projected lineup for this evening's matchup in New Jersey according to NHL.com staff writer Mike G. Morreale:

Forwards:

Tyler Bertuzzi - Dylan Larkin - Anthony Mantha

Andreas Athanasiou - Valtteri Filppula - Robby Fabbri

Taro Hirose - Frans Nielsen - Brendan Perlini

Darren Helm - Christoffer Ehn - Adam Erne

Defensemen:

Jonathan Ericsson - Madison Bowey

Filip Hronek - Dennis Cholowski

Patrik Nemeth - Dylan McIlrath

Goaltenders:

Jonathan Bernier

Jimmy Howard

Alex Biega and Luke Glendening are the scratches tonight. Danny DeKeyser, Mike Green, Justin Abdelkader and Trevor Daley are still out with injuries.

Netminder Louis Domingue will make his first ever start as a Devil tonight. The Devils sent ex All-Star Corey Schneider down to the AHL after he had lost the starting role to MacKenzie Blackwood and had played horribly for a while. The Devils are just as hungry as the Red Wings as they too are struggling this season.

It should be a good game of Hockey!
