Gritty tops 2019 NHLPA Player Poll with overwhelming result!

The NHLPA players poll is back for the 2018-19 season as more than 500 players took part in the questionnaire and weighed in on a variety of questions. It may not surprise anyone to see that Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid dominated the results, released on Wednesday. 

What’s even more exciting for Philadelphia Flyers’ fans is that one of the team’s member crushes the result in one category. 

This season’s breakout social media star, Gritty managed to score an overwhelming 69.4 per cent of the votes for best mascot.

The beloved mascot was quick to make a statement following his crushing win on his own Twitter account. 

“Roses are red,
The rumors are true, #29NHLMascot ,
I’m better than yous.”

Montreal Canadiens’ Carey Price is seen as the best goalie in the NHL by his peers and Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin is revealed to have the best shot with his trademark one-timer. 

Brad Marchand was a double winner as the Boston Bruins pest was voted “Biggest Trash Talker” (21.3 percent)  and “Worst Trash Talker” (12.5 percent) by his peers - which is hilarious.
