Gudas avoids discipline for his knock out hit last night.

The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has reviewed the hit delivered by Philadelphia Flyers forward Radko Gudas to Buffalo Sabres forward Daniel Catenacci and has determined no further discipline is warranted.

The NHL did not expand on why it opted not to suspended Gudas, but, and this is pure speculation, the league likely determined the game misconduct was sufficient punishment, they may also have determined that Catenacci deserves to shoulder some of the blame for putting himself in such a dangerous position.

Nonetheless Gudas will escape punishment for a hit that momentarily separated Catenacci from conciousness, and the Sabres aren't going to be happy.
