Guentzel receives support from legend for record push.

Jake Guentzel year has been amazing. From a totally unknown entity, he quickly became a force to be recowned with. He currently stand as the first goal scorer in the Playoff with 13, with a comfortable 4 goals cushion. This mark, combined with his 20 points, put him in a position to break two records at once next game. With one goal and/or one points, he will tie the record for most goal/points by a rookie in the playoff.

The 14 mark still stands 36 years after Dino Ciccarelli established it. He was asked today how he saw the situation.

“I hope he does break the record,” Ciccarelli told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “He has great instincts. He has a knack for the net.”

Now that's good sportsmanship. Of course, Ciccarelli would never openly say he wished his record was not broken ever, but his quote clearly shows he's actually rooting for Guentzel.

History might be made as quickly as Monday night, when both the Pens and the Preds will face again for game 4.
