The fight between Montreal Canadiens forward Paul Byron and Florida Panthers' MacKenzie Weegar that took place earlier this week has been talked about quite a bit.

However, it seems like Habs head coach Claude Julien has no clue what his player has suffered.

On Tuesday night, Byron accepted to fight Weegar, who was still upset about the hit the Habs forward delivered to his head earlier this season. While Byron was suspended three games for the hit, Weegar felt it wasn’t enough and the code was respected.

Weegar ended up landing a huge uppercut to his jaw and Byron had no clue where he was. As the Florida player checked up on him, one of the linesmen called the trainer over and escorted Byron to the bench. The poor guy could barely stand up and needed the help of three team members to make it to the dressing room…

On Thursday morning, when the Habs were getting ready to travel to Columbus to face the Blue Jackets, Julien confirmed that Byron would not travel with the team but that he was feeling much better. He even hinted at a potential return in the coming days as forward Nicolas Deslauriers slotted into the lineup to replace Byron.

Questions were quickly raised by pundits as it seemed quite clear that Byron had suffered a concussion in the fight.

Well, on Friday morning, Julien made it clear that he had no clue about the condition of his player when he revealed that Byron would not travel to Winnipeg to face the Jets on Saturday night and didn't add, as he did on Wednesday and Thursday that he was feeling better and better.

Media members were quick to point it out, per Eric Engels of Sportsnet

The Canadiens are tied with the Blue Jackets at 90 points entering Friday night, although Columbus currently occupies the East’s second wild-card spot.  The Habs will need to win almost all of their remaining games in the last push for the postseason.

And they might have to do without Byron - but we just won't ask Julien...
