The Montreal Canadiens are now in full swing when it comes to their preparations for the upcoming 2019 - 2020 National Hockey League regular season and unfortunately for some young NHL hopefuls that meant that today came with some unfortunate, if not entirely unexpected, news.

The Habs have announced that 14 members of their current training camp roster will be joining the organization's American Hockey League affiliate, the Laval Rocket, shrinking the main roster as the preseason continues to move forward. None of the names here are particularly surprising and no doubt all of the men named here were fully expecting that they would be headed down to the AHL prior to the start of the Rocket's own training camp which is set to kick off on the 23rd of September, in just a few short days.

Here are the 14 players that were sent back down to the AHL today as per the Canadiens' official website:

22 year old forward Morgan Adams-Moisan

25 year old goaltender Connor LaCouvee

25 year old defenseman Ryan Culkin, a former Calgary Flames 5th round draft pick (124th overall) at the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

23 year old defenseman David Sklenicka

26 year old forward William Pelletier

25 year old forward Nikita Jevpalovs

25 year old forward Joe Cox

23 year old forward Antoine Waked

21 year old forward Michael Pezzetta, Montreal's 6th round draft pick (160th overall) at the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

22 year old forward Alexandre Alain

21 year old forward Hayden Verbeek

22 year old goaltender Michael McNiven

27 year old defenseman Maxim Lamarche

23 year old center Lukas Vejdemo, Montreal's 3rd round draft pick (87th overall) at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

As stated before all 14 of these men are set to begin training once again when training camp begins for the Laval Rocket in the next few days.
