There’s a bizarre story unfolding this week in Quebec media that alleges dozens of celebrities, media personalities and even Montreal Canadiens players are having their phones hacked and spied on by… someone.

TV and radio host Véronique Cloutier first reported on the hack and several Habs players, including Brendan Gallagher, have voiced their concerns.

Check out this report on the matter from French-language media TVA:

On Tuesday, our Investigation Office revealed that she (Cloutier) and at least dozens of other public figures in Quebec, including players from the Montreal Canadiens, had been spied unknowingly by hacking their cell phones.
The Journal de Montréal also learned that one of the CH players, Brendan Gallagher, was worried after being made aware of the news on Tuesday.
“Can we know what’s going on? He asked the senior officers of the organization, not without reason.
“[Brendan] thought the Canadiens knew about the case and wanted to hide the situation from the players,” said Paul Wilson, CH’s senior vice-president of public affairs and communications.
However, he assured that this was not the case. “There is no hiding place,” he said.
The position of the Habs has not changed since the publication of this story.
“No one in our organization has heard of it,” said Wilson. For us, this is the first time. “
The Canadien says he conducted an internal investigation to come to this conclusion.
“If ever [a hacker] manages to infiltrate my cell [he] will just find it funny,” said striker Phillip Danault on Tuesday night following a win against the Penguins in Pittsburgh. As a hockey player, you do not have much privacy. The guilty should be judged severely. “

W…T…F….

If you needed any more proof that we're living in a different world in 2019, just around the corner from 2020, well... here you have it.

No arrests have yet been made, but suffice it to say there’s still a lot more to come in this story. A bizarre story that, frankly, is only one of about a dozen bizarre stories to come out of the hockey world this season. Strange times, indeed.
