The Montreal Canadiens made some major changes to the face of their franchise this summer, bringing in two major personalities in Shea Weber and Andrew Shaw all while getting rid of another in P.K. Subban.

In an exclusive one on one interview with NHL.com's Dave Stubbs, Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin admitted that the motivating factor behind the moves was to provoke a culture change in his locker room. He also hinted at a desire to do things a certain way, the Chicago way, looking to model the Habs organization after the organization where he developed as an NHL executive.

“Two Stanley Cups in five years,” said Bergevin about Shaw. “I like guys who don’t like to lose. Everybody likes to win, everybody’s happy when you win. I want guys, when you lose, it gets them inside. It hurts. And then you go back to work the next day.

“I don’t want a guy who walks out of the rink thinking, ‘Everything is cute, everything is fine even though we lost the game, life goes on.’ Yeah, life goes on, but I want guys who feel hurt by a loss. It’s the culture that I want. It’s the Chicago culture, that’s what I want.

“Andrew Shaw has it. I was in Chicago long enough to know they don’t take losing with a grain of salt. I want guys who don’t like to lose.”

You can see what Bergevin is going for here, and it's not insane by any stretch, but whether or not it will work remains to be seen, and it will make the Canadiens one of the teams to watch next seasons.
