The Montreal Canadiens have issued another medical update on Habs legend Guy Lafleur.

According to a news release from the Habs official website, Lafleur went through another surgical procedure just a few short days ago. From the Habs:

"Guy Lafleur underwent surgery at the Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM) on November 28. This procedure was performed in order to remove a lobe on one of his lungs, as well as to remove ganglions.

The operation was successful. Guy Lafleur will remain under observation at the hospital, and is expected to return home in the coming days to continue his recovery.

The family wishes to thank the entire medical team, as well as the personnel at the CHUM, and will not issue any further comment."

There will understandably be many concerned for the health of Guy Lafleur, especially given recent events surrounding the Hall of Famer. Fans were shocked just this last September when the Habs announced that Lafleur had undergone quadruple bypass surgery and was recovering in hospital.

Lafleur is one of the most iconic players in the history of the Montreal Canadiens. A former 1st overall pick at the 1971 National Hockey League Entry Draft and would go on to play for the Canadiens for 17 seasons, capturing 5 Stanley Cup Championships for the organization over that span of time. He was the first player in NHL history to score 50 goals and accumulate over 100 points in 6 consecutive seasons, and was named one of the 100 Greatest Players of All Time by the NHL.

Here's to hoping he once again makes a full recovery, our thoughts are with the Leafleur family and their loved ones at this time.
