Habs' player viciously spears Chara in worst place imaginable.

The phrase "don't poke the bear" doesn't even begin to describe a move this boneheaded.

During the second period of Sunday's bitter matchup between the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens, B's captain Zdeno Chara experienced something you shouldn't wish on anybody.

Tempers brimmed throughout the game, but Habs' defenseman Nathan Beaulieu took his frustration a step further.

The two men are skating up-ice when Beaulieu thrusts his stick between the legs of the Bruins' behemoth D-man. The entire incident occurs in plain view of a nearby referee, and Beaulieu was assessed a two-minute minor for slashing on the play.

Chara skated it off and continued the game.

The NHL's Department of Player Safety has handed down discipline to players committing similar spears, and it's hard to believe the league could ignore such a blatant cheap shot.

There's no place for this.
