The Montreal Canadiens signed forward Alexander Radulov out of the Kontinental Hockey League to add a little more dynamic offense to their line up, and he has proven very capable of doing that thus far.

With three goals and five assists through ten games it's no surprise that fans in the city are already enamored with Radulov's play, and as a result rumors of a potential contract extension have already begun making the rounds.

However in a recent interview Habs general manager Marc Bergevin shut down those rumors:

"Way too early," Bergevin said as per ESPN's Pierre Lebrun. "I remember when we traded for Vanek, and he really helped us get into the playoffs -- he did -- at the end it didn’t work out as well for him and us down the stretch. For the first month or so after we got him, some fans and media were saying, 'Sign, sign, sign.' You've got to be patient. There’s lots of time. We’re enjoying how he’s playing, and hopefully he keeps having success."

Bergevin's comments are acutely 100% true, it is too early for an extension, as the Habs couldn't sign Radulov to such a deal until after the January 1st even if they wanted to, and that's still more than two months away. However with Radulov currently on just a one-year deal, the thought has to have crossed the mind of the Habs general manager.

There may be also the matter of the bullet dodged that was a rumored Thomas Vanek extension before he flunked out in the playoffs playing on the mind of the Habs GM here. At least for now, this is one rumor you can consider debunked.
