The Montreal Canadiens had to win last night to give their hopes alive in the last stretch of the season, however, the New York Islanders were more ready to play and took the game 2-1 on Thursday night.

Andrew Shaw called out his teammates after the loss, stating that the Habs lacked fight, especially now that it is crucial to rack up the points in a tight playoff face in the East.

“We need to be a team playing hard. Everyone. All lines, all defensemen, goalie; everyone has to be playing their best every night. Lines are taking nights off, players are taking nights off. They don’t have that fight.”

However, it’s a comment from Habs insider Brian Wilde of Global News that came like a bomb. The reporter believes fans are driving Jonathan Drouin out of town and that he will get traded for the second time of his career. He even dares to add that Montreal will get a lousy return for his services…

Drouin has heard quite a bit of backlash from the Montreal fans - and we all know how passionate and loud they can be. The 23-year-old has been on a 14-game scoring slump. He does not have a point in the last seven games and just four over the last 15. All four of Drouin’s points during this stretch came in one game, so the winger has not hit the scoresheet in 13 of the last 14 contests.

As the Habs keep fighting for one of the wild card spots in the Eastern Conference, Montreal needs more from him and fans expect way more of him too.

According to Wilde, we are getting close to the last straw that might push Drouin out of Montreal...
