Dave Hasktol took the world of hockey by surprise yesterday when he benched his young and number one defenseman Shayne Ghostisbehere against a red-hot Winnipeg offense. The hockey gods gave him credit for his gutsy decision as the Flyers got a 5-2 win over the Jets. With such a nice result, one could wonder if the head coach could be tempted to sit down Gostisbehere once again. 

“I went into it with the mindset just one night and that’s still the way I feel today,” Hakstol said.

For Gosth, it was a night where he had the opportunity to look at the bigger picture and how things develop on the ice. “The game slows down for you a bit up there, i'm not always watching the puck up there, I’m watching the guys. It was a good thing.” -  said Gostibehere.

During the third period, Hasktol didn't shy away from his decision to bench young offensive talent as Travis Konecny played a little 2 shifts during the whole period ending the game with a 12 minutes of icetime.

“Sometimes, other guys are ready to go and I’ve been fighting the puck a little bit,” Konecny admitted
