Hawks blank Blues.

The Chicago Blackhawks blank the St-Louis Blues last night 2-0.

Goaltender Corey Crawford collected his 7th shutout to take the league lead. He made 25 saves in a solid performance.

Crawford's performance did not go under the radar and his defensemen were pleased with his play, like Trevor Van Riemsdyk:

"Corey bailed us out a couple times in that first period, and we didn't want to have to do that all game long. You kind of want to turn the tide there [in the second]. It's just little things, and everyone knows that, and we just tried to focus on that a little more in the second and third."

Rookie Artemi Panarin open the scoring after an amazing cross-ice backhand pass by NHL points leader Patrick Kane. The goal was Panarin's 17th goal of the season. Andre Shaw deflected a Marian Hossa point shot to close the scoring at 2-0.

Although St-Louis came out strong, Chicago was able to respect its gameplay and win a hard fought game. Crawford thought that the Blues did a great job of countering Chicago's style of play:

"They almost try to play the same way as us. It's tough to try and control the puck the whole game against a team like that. It's going to be a hard-fought game. They had momentum at the start. We started making plays and started getting control of the puck, and I thought we did well throughout the rest of the game."

The Blackhawks won their first game in their last 3, after winning 12 straight games.
