Hawks confident approaching the Playoffs!

It might be surprising given that they finished the 2016-17 NHL regular season on a four game losing streak, but the Chicago Blackhawks enter the Stanley Cup playoffs with a ton of swagger and confidence.

"That energy, that ambition, that motivation is back," captain Jonathan Toews said when asked about the state of his team. "We have that feeling again that every single moment, every single game matters and it's a lot of fun to play this time of year. It's why we work all year to get to this point."

Part of the reason the Blackhawks are feeling so good might be because of who they’ll be facing in the first round: the Nashville Predators. The Blackhawks dominated the Preds this season, winning the season series 4-1 and thoroughly outplaying their opposition in almost every contest. Of course, the postseason can sometimes be a different type of game, but when you’ve won three Stanley Cups in the past seven seasons, as the Hawks have, there are no surprises come playoff time.

With a lineup that’s just as strong as any that they’ve iced during their most recent renaissance, the Blackhawks are considered a Stanley Cup contender. Leaders like Toews, Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook and Corey Crawford will lead the way for the Hawks once again and they’ll be joined by a new supporting cast that features Artemi Panarin, Artem Anisimov, Ryan Hartman, Richard Panik and Nick Schmaltz.  One thing’s for sure, don’t count out the Hawks this postseason.
