It may be the Holiday season, but the Chicago Blackhawks did not get what they wanted for Christmas.

On Thursday, Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston confirmed that Brent Seabrook and Calvin de Haan are both done for the season. The team posted a medical update.

Both Seabrook and de Haan will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery, the team announced Thursday. Seabrook will go under the knife again as he is also scheduled for surgery on each hip in 2020.

The only thing positive in the post from the Blackhawks is the news that Brandon Saad should return in three weeks. The forward sustained a right ankle injury before the break.

Both Seabrook and de Haan will be placed on the long term injury reserve, which should help the Blackhawks to make the necessary moves to boost the roster.

That is quite a blow to their blue line. It remains to be seen what moves will come next for the Hawks and general manager Stan Bowman
