The Chicago Blackhawks were mercilessly booed by their fans at home in Game 2 on Saturday night. And nobody can blame them, certainly not the Blackhawks themselves.

After being shutout in a nail-biting Game 1 which was decided by a first period goal by Nashville’s Viktor Arvidsson, Blackhawks faithfuls were not expecting what unfolded in Game 2. By the time the third period started, the Predators had a 3-0 lead and the boo-birds were singing.

Chicago head coach Joel Quenneville said after the game that the fans "had nothing to be happy about last night". The game ended 5-0, and Chicago has failed to score a goal so far this post-season.

Incredible. And Incredibly disappointing for a team that many saw as destined to a push for a long run towards another Stanley Cup and dynasty status.

A big part of that dynasty, Brent Seabrook, couldn’t have agreed more with the fans’ reaction, saying: "They support us through thick and thin and we weren’t holding up our end of the bargain last night".

For a great many Chicago fans, that deal includes a long playoff run, and it certainly doesn’t include a first-round upset to division rival Nashville.

The Blackhawks will need to find answers to solve Nashville, or they will have a lot of difficult explaining to do to their ravenous fan-base.

Game 3 will be in Nashville on Monday, April 17th.
