The Chicago Blackhawks are now a powerhouse in the league, but they make moves to keep the status even longer.

Today, they signed centerman John Hayden on a two-years, two ways contract. The former captain of the Yale University team finished his career in the ECAC with 50 goals and 41 assists in 127 career games.

His profile is pretty interesting. Hayden is recognized for his skills and aggressiveness, especially around the net. Projected to be a top 9 forward, he can play center or on the right wing. He's 6'3 and reported at 210lbs, a very interesting body shape in today's league. He was drafted 74 overall in the third round of the 2013 draft.

He will probably join the Rockford IceHogs now that he's free from Yale. He might even have a shot at the NHL soon, depending on roster issues in the big team. The monetary details of his contract are not available yet.

Welcome in the big show, John Hayden!
