Hayes to ditch Flyers for one of these two surprise teams?!

This sounds more and more like a failed trade…

Fans across the National Hockey League were stunned last week to find out that the Winnipeg Jets had traded forward Kevin Hayes to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft.

The Flyers basically acquired his rights, seeing that Hayes is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 and did not discuss the possibility of a long-term contract in Philadelphia before the trigger was pulled.

However, he recently sat down with Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher to discuss a future in Philly and TSN’s Frank Seravalli believes Hayes was impressed by the meeting.

While the Flyers hope to convince Hayes to stay in Philly and fill their No. 2 centre spot, Seravalli unfortunately added that Hayes might not have been convinced enough to forego testing the free-agent market as the TSN hockey writer believes Hayes is intrigued by the Columbus Blue Jackets and Arizona Coyotes.

No one completely rules out a deal with Philadelphia, however we all think the Flyers are racing the clock before June 23 when Hayes can begin speaking to other teams.

Fletcher remains confident that he can get Hayes under contract and refuse to believe he would want to test the free-agency market…

“Certainly he's earned that right and we're respectful of that, but I think we have a lot to offer here in Philly. We'll continue to speak to him and he's open-minded to conversations, or at least that's what his camp has said to us and obviously we have strong interest in him."

However, if Hayes is too intrigued, it might just have to…
