Danton Heinen may very well start the season with the Bruins as an NHL player.

With Frank Vatrano’s successful surgery and eventual recovery time of three months, a position that was reserved for him has now been made available and up for grabs. Heinen knows he’s the man for that position. His freshman year saw him tally 45 points in 40 games, and 48 points in his sophomore year.

He logged big minutes on the ice, and was present on both the powerplay and penalty kill during the first preseason game was noticeable, and was noticeable mostly for good moves. Redirecting a shot from the blue line to turn it into a tying goal, his Providence Bruins coach, Bruce Cassidy, mentioned that “He looks to make plays every time he’s on the ice.”
