Ahead of tonight’s matchup between the Detroit Red Wings and the Boston Bruins at the Joe Louis Arena, head coach Jeff Blashill took the time to once again speak about his lineup.

Ansar Khan of MLive reports that Blashill enjoyed watching defensive prospect Filip Hronek this past summer, and has decided to slot him into the roster. Thus, 18-year-old Hronek will make his preseason debut tonight.

Blashill said: “I thought he had a real ability to move the puck when I saw him in the summer. He seemed to be able to handle the forecheck… He’s got an edge to him as well. I think it would mean a lot for him to be real good on the power play to be the type of NHL player we’d like him to be, so we’ll give him a chance on the power play tonight as well.”

Hronek will most likely start his OHL career with the Saginaw Spirit this upcoming season, although he’ll have a chance to shine playing alongside Dan Renouf and against a tougher opponent tonight.
