With Henrik Sedin’s assist today on Loui Eriksson’s game opening goal against the New York Rangers, the Vancouver Canucks captain ties Hall of Famer Guy Lafleur for 32nd on the NHL’s all-time assists list with 793 assists. Coincidentally, Sedin also ties former Canucks superstar Alexander Mogilny for 75th on the all-time points list with 1032.

Up next on the hit list? Jari Kurri at 797 assists and Martin St. Louis at 1033 points. It’s conceivable that Sedin will pull into the top 25 in all-time assist by the time his career is over, needing at least 853 to pass Bobby Clarke on the all-time list.

Notice anything about the above players? Nearly all of them are either Hall of Famers or future Hall of Fame locks. Doesn’t this beg the question, is Henrik Sedin a Hall of Famer too?
