The Vancouver Canucks lost captain Henrik Sedin during Sunday’s game against the New York Islanders, after he was boarded from behind by the Islanders’ Mikhail Grabovski.

There aren’t many good angles on the replay with, as @myregularface notes below, some replays looking a little like Grabovski pushed him in the shoulder and others making it look like the push was directly in the numbers.

Either way, Sedin went down in pain after the hit. He stayed with the team on the bench for the remaining minute-plus of the first period, but did not rejoin the team for the start of the second period.

Grabovski was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct on the play. The league will be taking a look at the play. However, within the game, the Canucks couldn’t connect on the five-minute power play and had to finish the game without their second leading scoring.

The Canucks wound up pulling out a win in the shootout.

Here’s a replay that shows him go down, possibly favoring his right arm a bit, which crashed into the boards at an odd angle.

Sedin cryptically said that it’s a “new injury” and that he’s had x-rays, but that he “won’t miss weeks,” according to NHL.com’s David Satriano.
