Henrik Zetterberg admits to a big problem over the past two season.

It may come as a surprise to some of you, but Detroit Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg is actually a human being like the rest of us, and like the rest of us he is growing older.

In a recent interview he stated that the last two seasons had been particularly difficult for him, and even added that he simply didn't have the energy to keep going at the end of each season. There is a silver lining however, the Red Wings and Zetterberg have both now identified the issue and will look to address it.

“That's what's gotten me the last two years, I ran out of gas," Zetterberg said as per the Detroit Free Press. You can't play hockey in this level when you run out of gas. So that's one thing we're going to play around with.”

So how will they fix it? Zetterberg has stated that he may play time on the wing, and may even go so far as to sit out some games during the season in order to be fresh late in the season and hopefully the postseason as well. How realistic that is should the Red Wings find themselves fighting for a playoff spot however remains to be seen.
