Mark Scheifele is waking up this morning, sitting at the 10th rank of the NHL scoring leaderboard. Behind names like Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, Tarasenko. In fact, only Connor McDavid is younger than the Jets' forward.

The native of Kitchener, Ontario is on pace for a point-per-game season for the first time since he came in the NHLin 2012-2013. After a breakout year last season in which he scored 29 goals and added 32 assists in 72 games, Scheifele should crush those numbers if he (and his teammates) can stay healthy.

His secret? There's not a day that goes by without hockey being on his mind. "When he leaves the rink, he just bites his hand until the first game comes on [NHL CenterIce]" Wheeler said. "He watches it, loves it, studies it... it's just a big part of who he is".

Around the league, guys know him as the Hockey Nerd, that says a lot.

His personnal skill coach, Adam Oates says " I talk to him every day, when we get the video going, we probably talk an hour".

"He's a rare athlete, and a genuine person [...] he's going to be the next captain of the Winnipeg Jets" - Paul Maurice.
