You have to imagine that these comments will ruffle more than a few feathers at the National Hockey League head offices.

Washington Capitals head coach Barry Trotz has called out the League for he he believes is preferential treatment when it comes to certain teams, specfically the Capitals second round opponent, the Pittsburgh Penguins.

According to a report from Sportsnet insider Chris Johnston Trotz told reporters that he believes the only reason that defenseman Brooks Orpik received a lengthy three game suspension for his hit on Penguin Olli Maatta, was because the hit came against the Penguins. Trotz did not appear to challenge the suspension itself, but rather the length, believing that it was longer than it should have been again because of the logo on the opposing jersey.

When asked to clarify his comments Trotz did not elaborate, but his non-answer told the whole story.

"Take it for whatever you want."
