Ho-Sang shoots himself in the foot amidst trade rumours!

The New York Islanders have been on a roll - that unfortunately very few NHL fans have noticed - however general manager Lou Lamoriello still has to deal with some crap…

He is still looking for a trade partner to acquire forward Josh Ho-Sang, who demanded a trade at the start of the season.

Lamoriello said once again on Tuesday that there is no update on the status of forward Ho-Sang, who remains away from the organization. The GM was unable to confirm that Ho-Sang could join the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the absence of a trade.

“We’ll just have to wait and see,” Lamoriello told reporters.

It is believed that while Ho-Sang keeps training in Toronto for a return to the NHL, he is shooting himself in the foot as potential interested clubs cannot see him in action in order to make a trade for him.

Lamoriello is not expected to lower his asking price which could explain why we are still at a standstill.

Ho-Sang, who was selected by the Islanders 28th overall in 2014, appeared in 10 games last season, scoring one goal and adding one assist. He has seven goals and 17 assists over 53 games in three seasons with the Islanders.

When he first demanded a trade, the 23-year-old was told by the Islanders not to report to the Sound Tigers, the Islanders’ AHL affiliate, while the team attempted to meet his request. Now they might have to make the tough call to bring him back to give him a stage and convince a team to make a move on him.

Come to think of it, they might be both shooting themselves in the foot here…
