The words may not have been out of NHL commissioner Gary Bettman’s mouth, however when Qubece Major Junior Hockey League commissioner Gilles Courteau informed media in a press conference on Tuesday that the league is targeting to start the season on October 1, potentially with fans, you better believe it was exciting news.

The QMJHL was forced to cancel the remainder of the 2019-20 season and postseason when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in Canada, but encouraging developments have been reported in the past weeks and one of them is the possibility that hockey resumes in October with the possibility of playing in front of an audience.

The junior leagues need the financial support from fans to keep going and the possibility of having them back in arenas is surely an encouraging thought.

And you bet we all wonder if the same could be applied to the NHL!
