Hockey insider reveals Preds’ plan to trade Subban!

P.K. Subban has tried his best in the last stretch of the regular season to prove to the Nashville Predators that he is a vital piece of the future in Music City.

However, it appears that general manager David Poile’s mind is made up and that Subban will end up on the trade block this summer.

According to TVA Sports, former NHL player and now hockey analyst Corey Hirsch informed Sportsnet 650 that he is 100% convinced that the Predators’ management will be trading the star defenseman after the postseason.

Due to his $ 9 million contract per year, the Predators may want to get rid of Subban in order to have more leeway under the salary cap. The veteran blue liner still has three more seasons to his current deal and it has been reported many times that the Preds will need  to make heartbreaking choices ahead of the 2020 draft for the new Seattle expansion.

The Predators only have $3 million under the cap ceiling for next year and will have to extend the contract of their captain Roman Josi at the end of the 2019-2020 season.

There is also the arrival of young defenseman Dante Fabbro, seen as one of the team’s best prospects, who made his NHL debut and is ready to blow away the team moving forward. Poile could decide to trust the younger defender and move Subban’s huge contract off his payroll to relieve some cap space.

Subban has tallied nine goals and 22 assists for a total of 31 points in 63 games this season. It might be his last playoff run with the Preds as they face off against the Dallas Stars in the first round series.

He better enjoy it!
