Looking at these two, should the Avs continue to try and ship them off?

You’ve been hearing it all summer, all of last season, and from the way things are going, probably this season as well: Matt Duchene and Gabriel Landeskog are on the trading block.

But nobody is buying, at least not at the price that Joe Sakic is asking anyway. So here’s a quick summary and highlights from each player, showcasing what they bring to the team and why the asking price for them is so high.

Matt Duchene, 26, has played 572 games and scored 174 goals and 418 points. He was drafted in the first round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, third overall by the Avalanche. He had 18 goals and 41 points last season across 77 games, the lowest total since his sophomore season in 2011-12 when he was limited to only 58 games and 28 points.

Gabriel Landeskog, 24, has been the Captain of the Avalanche since the 2012-13 season. He had a career-low 18 goals and 33 points in 72 games last season, his first sub-20 goals season (not including the lockout shorted season in 2012-13). He has 118 goals and 279 points in 428 games.

These guys are unfortunately trending downwards along with the Avalanches fortunes, but that’s not necessarily a knock against them as individuals. But apparently, they’re not worth as much as their price tags are asking, which leaves us to ask: Can the Avalanche improve more with or without either of these guys?
