Holland to bring another Wings member to Edmonton?!

It seems like all the Edmonton Oilers need is a yes from Ken Holland

According to Sportsnet, the Oilers and Holland have conducted extensive negotiations, with sources telling Sportsnet that the important issue of complete autonomy to hire and fire at will has been granted by Edmonton.

It is now reportedly up to Holland to decide whether or not he will take the job.

If he does, Oilers insider Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal wonders if Holland could bring another member of the Red Wings organization with him to help him out with the tough job ahead of him.

Matheson believe it would be possible for Holland to come along with former Oilers captain Shawn Horcoff, who is currently Detroit’s head of player development.

Horcoff was selected in the fourth round, 99th overall by the Oilers in the 1998 NHL Draft. He spent 12 seasons in Edmonton, before he traded to the Dallas Stars back in July 2013.

Last month, the Red Wings pleased their entire fanbase last month when they announced that legendary player Steve Yzerman was taking over as general manager of the team.

While it was first believed that Holland would stay in Hockey Town, the Oilers’ all-in offer might be too good to pass up.

According to TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, Holland is thinking about what is best for his career. While he was first believed to have taken himself out of the running as the new GM of the Oilers, he could consider the possibility once again, especially with the report of complete autonomy to hire and fire at will.

It could mean that Holland might bring important members from Detroit and fire people he sees useless in Edmonton.

However, we bet that the return of Horcoff in Edmonton would please some fans as many changes are expected this summer.
