The Detroit Red Wings return from a much-needed rest over the NHL All-Star break when they hit the road for the first of a home and home series with the New York Rangers, starting tonight in Madison Square Garden.

For Detroit, they’ll once again have to do without speedy forward Andreas Athanasiou and goaltender Jonathan Bernier. The good news is that head coach Jeff Blashill indicated that both could potentially return soon.

Goaltender Jimmy Howard, who has displayed some improved play in net in his last few starts, will get the nod in the crease.

Here are tonight’s expected line combinations:

Bertuzzi - Larkin - Zadina
Erne - Filppula - Fabbri
Helm - Nielsen - Glendening
Smith - Ehn - Abdelkader

Nemeth - Hronek
Daley - Cholowski
Ericsson - Biega
