It might have been the only NHL game on Monday night, but the visiting Ottawa Senators and the Pittsburgh Penguins offered quite a show to fans out there.

When it was clear that the Penguins were ending the year with a win over the Sens, tempers flared and the game came to a feisty ending.

Star forward Evgeni Malkin, who recorded two goals and an assist in his team’s 5-2 win, was the target of many hard checks in the last seconds of the game and the Russian player surely didn’t appreciate it.

He fought off Brady Tkachuk AND Mark Borowiecki, before his teammates came to his aid and a brawl ensued on the ice.  Players piled up against the boards with officials trying to break everyone apart to no avail.

Finally, as the referees broke down the last penalties of the game, which included three game misconducts to Pens’ Bryan Rust and Sens’ Tkachuk and Borowiecki, the fight was not done.

As Malkin bend over to pick up his stick, he was shoved by Jean-Gabriel Pageau and retaliated by whacking him with his stick.

The Penguins star player was lucky not to get in trouble for this move. Check it out:

Geno was ejected from the game with just 20 seconds to go and his minor penalty on the board, however it took two of his teammates to get him off the ice and away from it. He was ready for more!

It always seems to be a feisty event when both these Eastern Conference teams meet, and it was no different for their last contest of 2019.
