We have got some feel good news for you this morning.

According to multiple reports Calgary Flames veteran T.J. Brodie was back out on the ice this morning to practice with his teammates, this after a very scary incident left him on the sidelines earlier this month. This is the first time Brodie has returned to the ice with his teammates since he collapsed back on the 14th of November and it no doubt marks a massive step on his road to recovery.

Update: We now have video of Brodie on the ice this morning and he appears to be in great form all things considered.

Brodie was involved in a very scary incident earlier this month when he suddenly collapsed during a Calgary Flames practice, a collapse that appeared to have no trigger at all. Brodie was simply standing over by the Calgary Flames blue line, all by himself no less, when he suddenly fell to the ice and began convulsing uncontrollably. As you can imagine based on that description alone there was plenty of concern regarding the long term health of the 29 year old National Hockey League defenseman, but it seems as though whatever it was that caused his collapse has now been dealt with. We still have not learned the nature of what exactly caused Brodie to fall to the ice and begin convulsing and given the fact that no one is saying anything right now I suspect that both the player and the organization will be keeping the truth behind this matter a closely guarded secret.

For what it is worth Brodie spoke to members of the Flames media team on Saturday and stated that he was happy to be back with his teammates. Obviously based on the footage we have seen this morning we now know that Brodie is likely very close to a return to action.

"It's good to be back. I'm feeling good. It will nice to get on the ice with the guys again and try to get back up to speed."

Postmedia's Wes Gilbertson is reporting that, barring any interference from the team's medical staff, Brodie is expected to make his return to live NHL game action tomorrow when his Flames take on the Pittsburgh Penguins.
