Huge update on injured Wild star Zach Parise.

For what feels like the first time this season, the Minnnesota Wild finally have some good news regarding the health of often-injured star forward Zach Parise.

On Wednesday Parise hit the ice for the first time since undergoing surgery early in the season, skating with Minnesota Wild skating coach Diane Ness prior to the team practicing on the ice. Parise did not do much activity with the puck, but nonetheless this is a positive sign after nothing but bad news from Parise this season.

"I think the important thing right now is to take my time with the recovery," Parise said as per NHL.com. "You don't want to hop back in there out of shape. But I'm very confident that everything is going to get back to normal and even better than it was.

"Just the lone fact of not having to fight through that thing anymore, it's going to be even better."

The National Hockey League veteran has a history of back injuries already in his career and during the offseason Parise's back once again began to cause him problems, limiting him to no games played for the Wild thus far.

Finally, after much deliberation, Parise opted to have back surgery in late October and there was no timetable set for his return following that procedure. His return to the ice this week is only an early step in his recovery, but at least fans in Minnesota can now have some hope regarding the return of their star forward.
