Humboldt Broncos survivor prepares for comeback in 2019-20

Humboldt Broncos crash survivor Graysen Cameron has announced that he  intends to attend the team’s training camp later this summer in hopes of landing a spot on his former team.

The 20 year old was bound to a wheelchair during his recovery, but is confident that he can now resume training and crack the Broncos’ roster for 2019-20. He knows that it won’t be easy, but that he’ll have a lot of supporters cheering him on.

“My only focus is getting to Humboldt and being able to perform there. I don’t want to show up and be average, I want to make a name for myself in the league, and do whatever it takes to try and get a championship there,” Cameron said to CBC News.

Cameron took an assistant coaching role last year with his former minor-hockey team Red Deer Midget AAA Optimist Chiefs where fellow assistant coach Mike Moller was inspired by the youngster’s spirit.

“His maturity level, having gone through some adversity, really had a way of coming across to our players to appreciate every day, every practice, every game, and that it can be taken away,” Moller said.

“He was a great liaison, because of the age difference between us coaches and the players. His being able to communicate and understand a little bit more what they’re going through was invaluable,” he continued.

Incredible. All the best to Cameron in his quest. You KNOW that the if and when he hits the ice in a Broncos jersey next season, the hometown crowd will go absolutely BONKERS. Let’s go, Graysen!
