The Humboldt Broncos have been eliminated from the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League playoffs after falling to the Estevan Bruins, 3-2, in overtime of Game 7 of their quarter-final series from Affinity Place in Estevan.

The Bruins scored back-to-back goals just 19 seconds apart in the first period to take a 2-0 lead, however, the Broncos were resilient and managed to erase the deficit to push the crucial game in overtime. We were witness once again of their grandiose determination.

Estevan winger Tristyn DeRoose scored 4:54 into the extra period to send the Bruins into the semi-final of the SJHL playoffs where they will face the Melfort Mustangs.

After the Broncos were eliminated, survivor and former assistant captain Kaleb Dahlgren felt so proud of the team and took to Twitter to share powerful messages to the young men.

"Extremely proud of the effort every person in the whole organization put towards getting this team assembled and back on the ice in time for the season. It took a little piece from every person and that’s the definition of a true team.

"Do not hang your head Humboldt Broncos organization, players, billets, fans, and the town of Humboldt. This season was the definition of being and you should all give yourself a pat on the back. Thank you for wearing the crest with pride."

Such powerful words for this courageous team that got Canada cheering and rooting for them after the tragic bus crash. Dahlgren suffered numerous injuries during the crash including a skull fracture, puncture wound, brain injury and two fractured cervical vertebrae, along with three cracks. He is however recovering well and many followers are wishing him well.

And even more people are proud of the journey the Broncos walked after the tragedy. We are proud of you boys. Much respect to all the players and staff who persevered this season.
