It seems we may have a war of words brewing between one of the National Hockey League's most well respected analysts and one particular NHL organization.

On Saturday night during his regular segment on Coaches Corner NHL legend Don Cherry covered a wide range of topics as he is known to do but it was one subject that got all the attention in this particular segment. That's because Cherry made some highly controversial or contentious remarks regarding the Carolina Hurricanes organization and more specifically remarks about how that organization has conducted itself on the ice over the course of the 2018 - 2019 NHL regular season.

Cherry being the old school minded character that he is took serious exception to how the Hurricanes engaged in their post game celebrations, celebrations that to be fair have gotten the Hurricanes a ton of attention around the NHL this season in spite of them being a middle of the pack team. Keeping that in mind you can hardly blame the Hurricanes or new team owner Tom Dundon for going this route considering that they had almost comically bad attendance numbers the previous season, any publicity is likely good publicity as far as the Hurricanes are concerned at this point.

Cherry however did not see it that way and he absolutely went off during his Coaches Corner segment about how the antics that the Hurricanes were displaying after their wins at home simply have no place in the National Hockey League. The grumpy old analyst is not alone in this belief however and although many people who initially spoke out against the celebrations have since piped down, there are some who still feel that the entire thing makes the National Hockey League look amateurish. Perhaps Cherry's biggest issue of contention was his surprise at the fact that a man like Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour, a man Cherry referred to as a straight shooter, would allow something like this to happen under his watch.

Well it seems the Hurricanes heard Cherry's complaints last night and as a result they have issued a response to him in the form of a rather poignant meme. It is perhaps a little mean spirited on the part of the Hurricanes, but there's no question that Cherry was asking for it, at least a little.

First and foremost if you happened to miss the segment in question you can watch it in our earlier report here.

Now here is how the Hurricanes responded:
