In case you missed it, the Toronto Maple Leafs made two separate transactions yesterday afternoon, shipping out two players and getting one back, as well.

Up first, the Leafs shipped out journeyman center Adam Cracknell in exchange for minor league defenseman Steven Olesky.

The 32 year old Olesky is a career AHLer with only 73 NHL games on his resume split between the Washington Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins, but was previously with the Leafs' AHL affiliate Toronto Marlies where it's believed he had a strong impact on the team's young players.

As for Cracknell, the veteran of 208 NHL games had three goals and 10 points in 14 games with the Marlies this season. He split last season between the Dallas Stars and New York Rangers in the NHL, but spent the majority of the season with the Laval Rocket of the AHL.

In their second transaction, the Leafs shipped our minor league goalie Jeff Glass to the AHL’s San Diego Gulls, who just so happen to be the Ducks’ affiliate. In effect, this is two minor league trades between the Leafs and Ducks organizations.

With Eamon McAdam and Kasimir Kaskisuo holding down the fort between the pipes for the Marlies, the veteran Glass was expendable and the last place Gulls are desperate for some stability in goal. With no net left to share in Toronto, the Leafs organization clearly did Glass a favour by moving him somewhere where he can get more playing time.
