ICYMI: Ovechkin faces one game suspension

In case you missed it, Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin has informed the NHL that he will NOT participate in the upcoming 2019 NHL All-Sta Game in San Jose, California.

#Caps captain Alex Ovechkin has informed the NHL that he will miss the 2019 NHL All-Star Game in San Jose, preferring to take full advantage of the adjoining bye week to recuperate and get ready for the second half of the season and the playoff push.

As a result, Ovechkin will be forced to sit out a game with an NHL mandated suspension for skipping out on the annual event. Ovechkin was nominated as captain for Team Metropolitan Division for the tournament just last week.

The 33 year old has an incredible 29 goals and 45 points in 38 games so far this season.
