In case you missed it earlier today, the Ottawa Senators and Vancouver Canucks hooked up on a rare game day deal. The two teams are set to face-off tonight in Ottawa at 7pm ET, but not before their GMs did a bit of business earlier this afternoon.

Heading to the Sens are backup goalie Anders Nilsson and veteran forward Darren Archibald, heading to the Canucks are AHL goalie Mike McKenna and veteran forward Tom Pyatt. The Canucks also receive a 2018 6th round pick in the deal.

Here’s the full deal courtesy of CapFriendly:

Immediately after the deal was announced, Canucks GM Jim Benning announced that the team will call up star rookie goalie Thatcher Demko from the AHL’s Utica Comets tomorrow but that McKenna will back up starter Jacob Markstom for tonight’s contest. Pyatt has been assigned to the Comets.

As for the Sens, it’s expected that Nilsson will slot in behind starter Craig Anderson for at least the duration of this season, he’s a pending UFA in the 2019 offseason. Archibald has already accepted his assignment to the AHL’s Belleville Senators.
