Not everyone is up and checking out National Hockey League news at 2 in the morning, so, in case you missed it, there was some trade action late last night in the NHL.

The Vancouver Canucks traded away young defenseman Jordan Subban to the Los Angeles Kings in return of forward Nic Dowd.

Subban, younger brother of PK, is 22 years old and has amassed five assists in 16 games so far this season in the AHL.

A 27-year-old centreman, Dowd has an assist in 16 games with the Kings.

On Thursday, the Canucks learned that young center Bo Horvat will miss up to six weeks with a fractured ankle, and made the late night move to build a better depth upfront.
