Less than one minute into this morning’s quarterfinal game between Canada and Slovakia and Canadian forward Nolan Foote was tossed from the game.

Just 53 seconds in, Foote came flying down the right wing in the Slovakian zone and absolutely obliterated Slovak forward Kristian Kovacik.

Here’s the hit in question:

As soon as Foote was ejected from the contest, which Canada ended up winning 6-1 over the Czechs, fans were adamant that the hit was not worthy of a suspension.

TSN’s Bob McKenzie has just informed them that they were right seeing that the International Ice Hockey Federation has announced that there will be no further discipline on the hit.

This means that Foote will take part in the semifinal match against Finland on Saturday.

What a sigh of relief from Canada.
